Samsung Galaxy A6+ to feature Infinity Display and Android 8.0 Oreo

Samsung is working on a slew of upcoming smartphones belonging to the Galaxy J and Galaxy A series. Lately, the Galaxy J7 Duo was launched in India with a dual-camera setup for Rs. 16,990. Now, it looks like the company is focusing on the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ smartphones. These devices were seen in a slew of leaks in the recent times.

Samsung Galaxy A6+ has been spotted on the HTML5 benchmark website. The smartphone seems to have also passed through the Wi-Fi certification website revealing some of its aspects. The Wi-Fi Alliance database shows that the Galaxy A6+ could arrive with the model number SM-A605FN/DS. This information is in line with the previous leaks. The suffix DS in the model number tips that the alleged model spotted on the Wi-Fi certification website could be a dual-SIM variant of the device. The certification as seen in the image above also shows that the smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It also reveals that the Galaxy A6+ might arrive with support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands.

    Infinity Display

The HTML5 benchmark website shows that the Galaxy A6+ could flaunt an Infinity Display as the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ unveiled in December. The phone was listed to have a resolution of 412 x 846 pixels.

    Galaxy A6+ rumored specs

A leaked Geekbench listing of the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ smartphones revealed some of the key specs of these devices. From the same, the Galaxy A6 is believed to feature an Exynos 7860 SoC paired with 3GB RAM. The Galaxy A6+ is said to make use of a Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB RAM.

The benchmark database also hints at the presence of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. There are reports hinting that these upcoming models might receive the Android P update with support for Project Treble. We can expect the Galaxy A6 to have a 5.6-inch FHD+ 18:9 display and the Galaxy A6+ to bestow a larger 6-inch display with a similar aspect ratio and resolution. Samsung appears to focus a lot of the mid-range smartphones in order to make them competent enough to fight against the offerings from the popular Chinese brands. This is important for the company to strengthen its foothold in the mid-range market segment where it lost the battle against brands such as Xiaomi.
